Gordon Brittas is running communal leisure centre, but lacking the knowledge and people skills he keeps running into troubles. Chris Barrie is playing almost the same kind of character as in Red Dwarf - incompetent, but bossy manager of the leisure centre who is trying to take care of everything. Rest of the staff is trying to live with his difficult character.
The series had potential and often the episodes were rather good, but with time it became more and more predictable. Of course it wasn’t the great comedy to begin with, but after a while it was all too obvious how the episode will go on.
Also the creators put the impression that staff thought that Brittas was a horrible manager, but most of the times it was all just talk and not enough funny moments that would help to believe it - Brittas was just trying to get all done or fixed and most of the time accident weren’t his fault.
The biggest mistake of the creators was to bring the character of Brittas back to life for one more season, which was a spectacular disaster.
