Sketch show starring Robert Webb and David Mitchell.
After failure of their first solo project, The Mitchell and Webb Situation, the comic duo have moved to radio. This time, together with the large group of writers, that included such author as Jesse Armstrong, Sam Bain (both later created Peep Show), Mark Evans and John Finnemore, they have written completely different show with recurring sketches and completely different approach to writing. Later they adapted the new show for TV and called it That Mitchell and Webb Look.
Comparing to The Mitchell and Webb Situation new show was vast improvement on every level - from far better characters and scenes, parodies of TV shows, recurring sketches and the scenes that were made to look like behind-the-scenes filmed on set of the The Mitchell and Webb Look - everything worked almost perfectly. During four seasons, with small exceptions (like the Numberwang sketches that were not very successful or The Surprising Adventures of Sir Digby Chicken Caesar that had ups and downs) the show kept quite high level, even comparable to Fast Show.
While The Mitchell and Webb Situation had potential, but failed to made use of it That Mitchell and Webb Look was almost perfect show thanks to large number of contributing writers and the cast that was already familiar to each other from radio show. That Mitchell and Webb Look was definitely the best sketch show since Fast Show.
