Due to some extraordinary coincidences Jim Hacker finds himself in position to become a new Prime Minister and moves up from ministry to diplomacy.



Yes Prime Minister Series 1 (1986)

In the chaos after resignation of his predecessor Jim Hacker becomes a new Prime Minister. But the position turns out to be not exactly what he was expecting.

After visiting the military center with "nuclear button" Hacker plans to change the defence policy completely - switch from nuclear weapons to conventional army.

It’s time for the first television broadcast as Prime Minister and while Hacker is obsessed with his image Sir Humphrey is more concerned about the Grand Design Hacker is about to announce.

Hacker angry with Sir Humphrey for barging in the Number 10 building authorizes Bernard to take away Sir Humphrey’s key.

Sir Humphrey prepares for another battle with Prime Minister when a Civil Service pay raise comes up. But this time he also will have Permanent Secretary to the Treasury on his side. Well, almost on his side.

Hacker is again put in a hot spot when the tiny island of St. George is threatened by the invasion from East Yemen.

The Bishop’s Gambit

When British nurse is arrested in Qumran for possession of a bottle of whisky (a crime punishable with 10 years in prison and 40 lashes) Hacker wants act fast, but unfortunately the Foreign Office is strongly against taking any actions. Sir Humphrey finds another solution to the problem while visiting his alma mater, and not without a hidden gain for himself.

One of Us

The former head of MI5 is revealed to be a Russian spy and it seems that Sir Humphrey could be in real trouble, since in past he was the one in charge of the inquiry that cleared any allegations. The dog named Benji comes to his rescue.
