Modern version of Yes Prime Minister - the short story showing the events behind the economical crisis within European Union and how James Hacker struggles to overcome it by very unlike means.
The revised version of Yes Prime Minister offers a single story that links all the episodes (the series is based on a stage play) and the staff around Jim Hacker have changed as well - the plotting of Civil Service is replaced with PR machinations and the media pressure.
The story itself is rather entertaining and on parts even quite funny, but the creators made a huge mistake by using the same names for main characters as they used in original Yes Prime Minister series. This way is it inevitable that the actors playing them will be compared by the audience. And to be honest cast of Yes Prime Minister 2013 did well, but comparing to original cast not well enough. Let’s face it no one can replace Nigel Hawthorne in the character of Sir Humphrey Appleby.
If they would change the names or change the name of the show the series would surely receive much warmer reviews. But unfortunately they didn’t and spoiled the show for many of the viewers. Yes Prime Minister 2013 detached from the original series is rather good offer.
