Minor politician Jim Hacker becomes the Minister of Administrative Affairs and starts his struggle with bureaucracy within ministry and Civil Service.

Perfectly balanced between absurdity of bureaucracy and reality of politics. It would seem that it’s impossible to make a comedy out of such motives, but creators did a splendid job.

It is sometimes said that Yes Minister was a child of such shows as Men from the Ministry, but contrary to that opinion Yes Minister is completely different approach to the matter. The humour and situations aren’t as absurdal as in Men from the Ministry, althought certainly it looks like it was inspired by the radio show.

The situations portraited in Yes Minister seem real, the plots seems like they were taken from the newspaper, which makes it more complexed, but nevertheless funny. Perhaps the main factor of success of Yes Minister (and its successor Yes Prime Minister) is that all the characters seem real and the constant struggle between Hacker and Sir Humphrey even more comical.
