1970s British tv sitcom

After death of her husband Audrey fforbes-Hamilton is forced to sell the family manor and move to much smaller house nearby. But what really makes her angry is that the manor was bought by rich owner of supermarket chain.

To The Manor Born was made in rather typical English style for 1970s - simple plots, slow pace, the simplicity of country life, the tea with vicar, etc. For today viewers it could be too slow and too gentle, but it was made for different kind of audience. The 2007 Reunion Episode shows that it was still fondly remembered 25 years later, but its popularity doesn’t come from high level of the content, rather from the simple and relaxed atmosphere.

To put it in another words - by many considered classic, but you can’t expect it to be as good as Fawlty Towers or Blackadder. It is completely different kind of series - gentle, slow and soft.
