Three divorcees agree to share a flat owned by their divorce lawyer. She hopes they will be able to help each other with the trauma of divorce, but instead they share their worst habits.
The Exes is one of the series produced by smaller American stations and based on the same basic idea - let’s take fairly known actors, average scripts and let’s see what happens. Oh yeah, and just don’t worry about the premise, we don’t need one. Just like Hot in Clevelend or Men At Work this series is a mixture of mediocrity with desperation. Instead of creating interesting characters and plots they just mix up familiar faces and hope this will get them through first few seasons.
Here we have Donald Faison (Scrubs), Wayne Knight (Seinfeld, Hot in Cleveland, 3rd Rock from the Sun), Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock from the Sun) and Kelly Stables (Romantically Challenged, Two and a Half Men) plus ridiculous reason why they hang out together (just like in Hot in Cleveland).
Add to it average plots and not very good jokes and you will have the whole outlook of The Exes. The actors (especially Wayne Knight and Kelly Stables) do their best, but there isn’t enough good material to make it work. In Season 3 the level of scripts did improved, but still it is only an average series.
