41-year-old librarian Timothy lives with his parents - a henpecked father and despotic mother, who still sees him as a little child. His every attempt to leave the house and start his own life is blocked by scheming of his mother.

Sorry! is a story of 41-year-old librarian Timothy Lumsden, who tries to break away from his despotic mother and start a life of his own, just like his younger sister did few years earlier, but the mother still treats him like a little boy and keeps him away from dating, taking another job or finding a new place to live. His every approach to meeting women or trying to change his life is blocked by the scheming of his mother, Phyllis, or by his complete lack of spine. With time he becomes more and more like his father, who simply gets out of the way and tries to keep low profile. His younger sister Muriel and his best friend Frank are trying hard to make him cut the cord and leave the house, but Timothy is too hesitant and weak to finally do it.

All of it sounds more like case for psychiatrist than the prelude to comedy series, but with few catchphrases, few repeated schemes Sorry! is actually quite entertaining. The domineering mother, the henpecked father and the main character, who tends to break the monotony of his life using imagination and sarcasm create plenty of very good scenes and comic moments. The later seasons were a bit repetitive, but up to a point it was very good series.
