Life and Stuff

Roseanne is summoned to a parent/teacher conference after Darlene has been barking in class. Stressed from the pressures of coping with home and work, she lashes out at Dan for not doing his share. Note: This episode is the only one in which Sal Barone played D.J. Conner. He was subsequently replaced by Michael Fishman.

We’re in the Money

Although Dan and Roseanne agree not to spend any of Dan’s $500 advance on themselves, neither can resist the temptation. Note: This is Michael Fishman’s first appearance as D.J.

D-I-V-O-R-C-E

Date night for Dan and Roseanne turns into a brush with divorce, after they run into an old friend who has just been through one. Dan begins to fear the worst about their marriage and decides to put their relationship under a microscope. After a lot of “what ifs” they come to the conclusion that there’s hope after all. Meanwhile, Roseanne’s sister Jackie inadvertently forgets she promised to baby-sit the kids.

Language Lessons

Dan and Roseanne agree to take a body language test which will prove whether they can physically communicate their thoughts. But the plan backfires when Dan’s true feelings about Roseanne’s sister, Jackie, are laid bare – he thinks she is a meddlesome moocher. This forces a confrontation between the in-laws.

Radio Days

As Darlene and Becky bicker over territory, Roseanne cheers and encourages Dan’s decision to enter a country-western song writing contest in hopes of crooning his way to fame and fortune. The episode features a full length rendition sung by John Goodman. Meanwhile, the friction between Booker, the factory manager, and Jackie heats up.

Lovers’ Lane

On an evening out with the gang at the bowling alley, Roseanne sneaks a peek at her daughter Becky’s first boyfriend. Meanwhile, Booker makes a bet with Jackie for very high stakes; if he wins she’ll have to spend the night with him.

The Memory Game

Dan and Roseanne receive a notice in the mail announcing their fifteenth high school reunion. Dan’s enthusiastic plan to take photographs for the high school reunion yearbook exposes a 15-year-old secret he has kept from Roseanne. His attempts to explain things to an angry Roseanne bring hilarious results.

Here’s to Good Friends

It’s up to Roseanne and Jackie to console a broken-hearted Crystal when her boyfriend breaks up with her. It takes a night at the Lobo Lounge, reflecting on love and men, to set her straight. But while at the Lobo, a miffed Jackie notices Booker with another woman. Hours earlier, he had told her he had to spend the evening with his mother.

Dan’s Birthday Bash

Happy Birthday Dan! Roseanne and the kids surprise Dan with an extensive birthday breakfast. Later on in the evening, Roseanne throws Dan a party at the Lobo. During the party Dan comes close to being violent but is stopped by Roseanne. Afraid that he will look like a wimp Dan vows that he will beat up the billiards bully the next time he sees him. Becky is invited to Chip’s for a dinner.

Saturday

A Saturday at the Conners means chilling out and relaxing but Dan believes he can conquer fixing the truck while relaxing. Roseanne & Dan place a friendly wager to see if Dan and the gang can fix the truck in the afternoon.

Canoga Time

Dan can’t bear to part with the "junk" Roseanne wants to donate to a rummage sale, so Roseanne proposes a deal. Darlene forges a passing grade on her report card, but will it fool her parents?

The Monday Thru Friday Show

Dan and Roseanne disagree about where to spend a romantic 15th anniversary; Becky refuses to dissect a frog in biology class; Darlene finds her paper route more than she can handle, until Jackie took the kids to a water park.

Bridge Over Troubled Sonny

Crystal struggles to cope with the death of her husband Sonny, who is buried in the bridge that Jackie drove them over on the way to work. Roseanne struggles with whether or not to tell Crystal a secret she knows about Sonny (who was a cheat), until Crystal reveals that she had an affair while still being married to Sonny and she never told him. Darlene decides it’s cool to smoke--until Roseanne finds her pack of cigarettes.

Father’s Day

Dan’s father visits, bearing gifts, and all are thrilled to see him except Dan himself. The visit drags out and insults are hurled toward Dan, so Roseanne has to step in. Dan sees his father’s philosophy of "Work smart, not hard" as a direct put-down on his life, while his father sees it as caring advice.

Nightmare on Oak Street

The girls watch a slasher-horror film, and Roseanne has been losing sleep, due to what she believes are Darlene’s re-occurring nightmares. When the truth is revealed, that the scary movie isn’t behind the insomnia, Roseanne learns that Darlene is entering puberty.

Mall Story

It’s time for the annual Landford Mall-A-Thon and Roseanne and her gang are ready to scout out the deals and spend a lovely Saturday in retail heaven. Roseanne takes her family as she realizes Dan needs new shoes, Becky needs a dress, and Roseanne just needs a day to escape work. Jackie converses.

Becky’s Choice

Bachelor 1 or Bachelor 2? Becky must decide between her first crush, Chip, and the infamous "Tongue Bandit". The decision worsens when Roseanne & Dan invite Chip’s parents over for a family dinner. Later on, Becky is caught with the other guy in the backyard.

Slice of Life

Becky is getting ready for a big slumber party, and Darlene is getting ready to pitch the big game. Darlene is extremely moody, and argues with Roseanne before slamming out of the house. After Roseanne gets a phone call that Darlene is undergoing emergency surgery in the emergency trauma center for a ruptured appendix that is causing a fever and raptured intestice, Roseanne becomes wrecked with guilt over the morning’s fight.

Workin’ Overtime

The Wellman Plastics group is growing tired as Booker continues to lengthen the worker’s shifts due to quotas, factory mistakes, etc. Roseanne, queen of the group, cannot take it any longer. When Roseanne completes another long day of work and comes home to the everyday craziness, she must escape and take a breather.

Toto, We’re Not in Kansas Anymore

As a tornado spins through Lanford, the Conners panic about Jackie, who hasn’t returned from her trip to the store.

Death and Stuff

During the family’s busy weekend activities, a door-to-door salesman drops by -- and then drops dead in the Conner kitchen. Meanwhile, they are expecting company, potential buyers for the washer and dryer, and the coroner is taking his time getting the body out of the Conner kitchen.

Dear Mom and Dad

An unannounced visit by Roseanne’s parents has the Conner house in an uproar. Dan and Jackie are pushing a usually outspoken Roseanne to stick up for herself, because she is now at a loss for words. Hostility and stir-craziness abound, but the biggest shock comes when Bev announces that they are moving to Lanford.

Let’s Call It Quits

Roseanne has difficulty accepting new rules from a tough new supervisor at the factory. After he raises the cap on the quotas yet again, Roseanne approaches him to try to get him to ease off. The boss agrees, but he needs a favor from her, in return. They come to a temporary agreement that results in a permanent solution. Final appearance of George Clooney as Booker.
