Oh, Brother!

Brother Dominic is a kind and well-meaning man, who just keeps having the accidents. The monastery he belongs to had to create a special fund to cover the expenses of fixing all the thing that get broken.

Brother Dominic is a kind and well-meaning man, it’s not his fault that he is one of the unluckiest man in the world. This is a real problem for Father Anselm and Father Matthew, who are running the monastery he belongs to - on one hand it is hard to cover all the costs Dominic is causing by his accidents, but on the other hand they can’t just send him away or release him to the society. So they do what they can to find Dominic activities in which the damage would be limited to minimum, but it isn’t easy - they do live in monastery after all.

Derek Nimmo, star of All Gas and Gaiters, returned in similar character in Oh, Brother! series, but it wasn’t a great success for many reasons. First of all in All Gas and Gaiters he was playing a support role that balanced two experienced actors, while Oh, Brother! showed that he simply does not have enough potential to carry the whole series on his shoulders. The cast of Oh, Brother! was good, but Brother Dominic as central character just wasn’t a great idea, because he was rather cartoonish figure that had not much to offer in most of the episodes. The choice of monastery as the story location was risky, mostly because it limited the topics that can arise in such place. But the biggest problem was with the stories itself - they were too simple, jokes were rare, the chemistry between characters not very impressive.

Overall a very forgettable series - the creators tried to build it with main character that did not have potential to actually be the powerhouse of the whole production.
