One night the court in Manhattan gains a new judge, Harold T. Stone, who turns out to be not an ordinary judge - huge fan of Mel Torme and childish pranks, he prefers to follow his heart than the letter of the law.
Night Court runned for 9 years and the humour at the beginning was much different from later seasons. The creators have started with down-to-earth show that was dealing with almost real cases, and with time this realistic look on the courtroom was dropped to bring much lighter kind of humour.
The overall note for the series has to include both parts - the first one was sometimes way too complicated for sitcom (sometimes almost philosophical) and the second was sometimes too weird.
