Two female flatmates, Chrissy and Jo, agrees to share their flat with a student chef Robin as long as he promises to cook for them and keep his hands to himself, which isn’t easy for him, at least the second part.

| The flatmates are having a party when George and Mildred are away at her sister’s house. When George delights over his brother-in-law’s conviction for drink driving they come home early and are invited to the party. Later, when moving his car the breathalyser catches up with George. |

| When Robin returns from his judo class he wants to demonstrate his moves to the girls. But later in the pub when Chrissy is harassed by a man Robin keeps quiet. How can he prove that he’s not a coward? |
3 | In Praise of Older Men |
| Chrissy’s new boyfriend Ian is round for a meal. At the pub Mildred tells Robin and Jo that Ian is already married. When they go home and inform Chrissy, Ian says that he’s divorced. Robin subsequently finds out otherwise but Chrissy won’t believe him. |
4 | Did You Ever Meet Rommel? |
| Chrissy invites the Ropers up for a meal not realizing that Robin has invited his friend Franz who is German. The meal doesn’t go well as George won’t stop taking about the war. |
5 | Two Foot Two, Eyes of Blue |
| Jo is going on a date but has forgotten that she is meant to be babysitting. Chrissy agrees to take her place and persuades Robin to come with her as the house has a color TV. When they arrive, it looks like Robin is going to regret his decision as the TV is being repaired and the drinks cabinet is locked. |
6 | Carry Me Back to Old Southampton |
| Robin fails his cooking exams and feels he has to go back to Southampton and join his father’s business. However, his father doesn’t want him to come home and pays for him to retake the exams. |
