Louie is typical average American with uninteresting job, empty bank account and family that drives him crazy.
The series created by Louis C.K. was in his mind the other kind of comedy that isn’t present in sitcoms - his idea was to introduce a difficult or sometimes controversial topics into plots (like sex, muggers, sex, lack of sex, swearing and sex) and to show the things that others avoid. And he made just two small errors in judgement. One - perhaps it is not without a reason that others are avoiding putting such themes in their productions. Two - most of the themes are present in other productions, but they are done in more subtle way or with taste. He also forgot that there are already shows talking about tough or controversial topics - they are called dramas and soap operas.
Nevertheless he did created the sitcom that was suppose to show the real problems of real people and real families. Unfortunately beside that idea he did not add much value to the series. The jokes were very seldom and rather poor, the overall atmosphere was rather heavy, characters superficial, plots uninventive. And who would guess that swearing and constantly talking about sex won’t help the series to be all time classic? Well, definately not Louis C.K.
The series was cancelled in the middle of first season and to be honest it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why. The production was a huge mistake on many levels.
