The soldiers from Royal Artillery Depot Concert Party at Deolali, India in 1945 have to face problems like Japanese threat, the heat, the revolt of locals, but what scares them most is their Sergeant-Major Williams.
Another successful creation from team Perry-Croft. Just like Dad’s Army they’ve set the show in II World War years, this time in another part of British Empire - India in 1945. The Concert Party that entertains the soldiers that are about to fight in the jungle or on a break from front line. But beside that they have a lot to do if they want to avoid being sent to fight themselves which is the sole dream of Sergeant-Major "Shut-Up" Williams.
Again Perry and Croft picked up interesting set of cast, built-up distinctive characters and created quite entertaining environment. Of course the humour is far from their other productions and the show simply can’t in any way compete with Dad’s Army or You Rang, M’Lord? But again they’ve achieved something that so many creators failed to - even if the episodes aren’t as funny as in other series it’s really easy to get attached to It Ain’t Half Hot Mum.
