The misadventures of staff in small law company Lotus, Spackman & Phelps, where every employee is quite a character, but not necessarily in a good sense of that expression.

Simon Nye, after great success of Men Behaving Badly, in 1995 decided to run a second sitcom at the same time - Is It Legal? His choice of main theme was rather surprising - from typical heavy drinking men and their problems with women (and vice versa) he moved to sitcom set in small law firm and with completely different style and kind of humour. But he managed to build a unique set of characters and after the first season the chemistry was great between them, which has given a really enjoyable comedy series.

He gathered a group of people with only two things in common - they work together and each of them is in a way a sad and pathetic character. Bob is hopelessly in love with delivery girl, Stella is focused on work and has no private life, Alison is shallow and lazy, Dick is just lazy and incompetent, Darren lives in his own world, while Colin is just weird in every way. And this group of inadequate people together give interesting atmosphere and with good jokes thrown in it is one of the overlooked diamonds British comedy in 1990s.
