Gary Sparrow, the TV repairman living with his wife in London in the 1990s accidentally finds the portal that would allow him to move in time to 1940s London and back. The war was still on, German bombers was flying over the city, but Gary found the reason to keep visiting the past - barmaid Phoebe.

| Gary’s shop flourishes whilst Yvonne is depressed at being jobless so Gary applies on her behalf to the Symbion Company, based in Korea. |
4 | It’s a Sin to Tell a Lie |
| Detectably counterfeit money notes are flooding the area around the Royal Oak and initially Gary suspects Ron trying to discredit him out of jealousy. |
5 | Change Partners |
| As Ron’s marriage crumbles Gary brags of his prowess with the ladies, only to find that both Yvonne and Phoebe, tired of his absences, are carving out their own social lives. |
6 | Goodnight Children Everywhere |
| Phoebe’s young cousins Peter and Sally come to stay at the pub and Gary has more joy with them than he does in the present day. |
7 | Turned Out Nice Again |
| Gary successfully performs the Beatles’ song which he claims to have penned himself, at a birthday party in the Royal Oak and Mr. Wyx suggests he sell the song to entertainer George Formby to sing at the Hackney Empire. |
8 | There’s Something About a Soldier |
| Phoebe’s husband Donald, who has escaped from the prison camp in Italy, returns. |
9 | Someone to Watch Over Me |
| When Phoebe is ill with pneumonia Gary brings her penicillin, the bottles belonging to Yvonne and Ron, who had some for his poorly dog Sheba. Phoebe recovers and,seeing the name Sheba on the label, suspects Gary is seeing another woman. |
10 | The Yanks Are Coming |
| When the Yanks come to the Royal Oak Gary is able to get Ron the parts he needs to build his own jeep. |
11 | Let’s Get Away from It All |
| Gary’s parallel lives run parallel as Yvonne puts their house in Cricklewood on the market to move to yuppy heaven with gym and a pool, and Phoebe rents a house in the suburbs from a woman who is moving to Devon. |
