George and Mildred Roper leave their old house and move in to more posh neighborhood. Their next door neighbor couldn’t dream about worst scenario.
George and Mildred as a comedy series was a decent show with quite few laughs, but as a spin-off from Man About the House it was somehow disappointing (just like the other spin-off, Robin’s Nest). From the beginning there was something missing in George and Mildred, they did their part of the show, but what was around them wasn’t producing much entertainment (like their families, their neighbors, etc). Mixed with tenants in Man About the House the Ropers worked perfectly, but separated from Robin and girls they weren’t enough to keep the same level.
Still it is entertaining show, very good performances from Brian Murphy and Yootha Joyce, but missing the plots and influences created by tenants made this show less attractive. There just wasn’t much going on beside the Ropers house and their constant little nastiness became too frequent and sometimes too predictible.
