TV news station GlobeLink News is taken over by new owner, who puts Gus Hedges as head of the station to oversee the whole operation. The journalists have of course total freedom... as long as they follow certain guidelines.
Drop the Dead Donkey is a mixture of parody with over-the-top plots and characters, and on the other hand very down to earth moments and serious issues. Also the series has one of the most memorable end scenes in history of comedy series.
Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin created a set of strong characters with wide range of weaknesses, but kept them real (well, perhaps with exception of hypochondriac George). Also the series was partly containing comments to current political events, so it is even harder to imagine that they managed to make such a good series.
The whole series was a clever mixture of laugh and sorrow, great sense of humour and personal problems with really high level of entertainment.
