Naive small town girl June moves to New York City, where she becomes roommate of Chloe, who is completely stripped of any morals.
By some of the early reviewers this show was named the best sitcom of the decade, but saying such a thing when only 2 years were gone from the decade was a brave thing. Also Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 was praised for presenting strong women characters, which is misleading since the character of June simply can’t be called strong and character of Chloe is just a caricature.
Overall the show was lacking originality - very similiar motives and characters were present in several different shows, like Caroline in the City, Just Shoot Me, NewsRadio, Will & Grace or Better Off Ted, just to name few. Also the scripts weren’t good enough (often they were more satire than a sitcom). Cast did their best, but without good script even the best cast cannot do much.
