Gareth Blackstock is renown chef that is running the restaurant Le Chateau Anglais that he believes is the best French restaurant in England, if not in the world. But, what a surprise, he isn’t an easy person to work with.
Chef! is one the comedy series that could fill the niche for very narrow audience. We have here an arrogant, self-centered, perfectionist who runs the kitchen with shputing and bullying, but this covers pretty much all of the chefs in restaurants. He neglects his wife because he is concentrated on his job most of the time - again nothing unusual. And that’s the show - most of the scenes take place in the kitchen or in retaurant, talking about restaurant or ingredients, arguing about food or restaurant.
The whole idea for the show was too limited, the plots were not interesting or involving enough, Gareth rants when he was instructing his employees after a while were predictible and not very funny. Also the plot involving Gareth’s wife wasn’t bringing anything new or original to the show. For all the cooking shows fans it could be interesting for a while, but if you’re interested in comedy then Chef! will rather disappoint you.
