Due to small mistake he is unable to spot Barbara in completely female staff of the factory. But even though this small mishap their editor is convinced the two should work together. Despite the initial problems in communication they became good journalistic team.
Barbara i Jan was first Polish TV series, before that government operated TV was producing mostly live programmes or TV movies, so this show was a pioneer project. It was co-written by Stanislaw Bareja, later considered one of the best Polish comedy writers, together with Jerzy Ziarnik and Lech Pijanowski (under Janusz Jaxa pseudonym). As with most experiments this one was evolving during production, while first episode was strictly comical the further ones were mixture of comedy, mystery and a bit of detective or investigative journalism elements constantly reaching for themes linked to chasing fraudsters or getting involved in local disputes.
But since skilled comedy writers were involved, one of the best Polish comedy actors, Jan Kobuszewski, was hired to play one of the two main characters, Barbara and John turned out to be quite entertaining comedy series with good dialogues and sometimes intriguing plots. It wasn’t typical situation comedy, but even the crime elements were light and easy to enjoy.
