Chelsea Newman is a twenty-something waitress in a bar, which suits her fine since her main hobbies are alcohol and sleeping around.
Are You There, Chelsea? is rather easy to review - most of the viewers would need not more than a single word. In my case it would be "mess" - the series was poorly written, obviously miscasted and simply hard to enjoy. Laura Prepon was casted as a character 10 years younger and it didn’t work. Her character drinks a lot, sleep around and... that’s pretty much it. Rest of the cast looks more like, pardon the expression, circus freak show from 1920s than a cast picked by a professional.
The series was based on a book written by Chelsea Handler (who played the part of Sloane) and it is somewhere between Sex and the City and 2 Broke Girls - the overtone is usually very heavy and filled with jokes based on sex, alcohol or both, which in a longer run makes it hard to stand even for adult audience.
Dottie Dartland have created more or less successful Dharma & Greg and Caroline in the City, but this time she missed by miles - nothing went right with this show and it is hard to believe that someone actually gave this show the green light - it is the worst show in a long time.
