Doctor Martin Ellingham moves to a small town of Portwenn in Cornwall, where he used to spend his childhood. He meets his rather ecentric neighbours and patients, but the fact is he isn’t an average doctor either.
London surgeon Martin Ellingham becomes a new GP in sleepy Portwenn and from the beginning gets on the wrong foot with the locals, who are not used to his type of doctors.

| Martin Ellingham is appointed GP in small port in Cornwall. After arrival he gets the first impression of the locals who definately are not his cup of tea. His first patient is retired Lieutenant Colonel, who’s problem is rather delicate... his breasts are growing bigger. |

| Martin’s first day in the surgery starts with a clash with reality - the locals treat his practice like a cafe, which really upsets him. When the receptionist makes a mistake while taking the informations about boy who could be really ill Martin fires her, which antagonise the locals. |

| Quite few of Martin’s patients are taken ill by some sort of stomach bug and he is determined to get to the bottom of it. |

| Martin takes a trip to visit the park ranger Stewart, who believes he lives with a 6-foot squirrel named Anthony. |

| John Slater, an old flame of Martin’s aunt, arrives to Portwenn. Martin discovers that Slater has heart problems, but he has bigger problem on his hands - 15-year-old patient Melanie develops a crush on him after he fixed her dislocated shoulder. |

| Martin suddenly discovers that his fear of blood is no longer secret in the village. At the same time teenager Peter fells down during PE and Martin fears it could be serious. Also he has chance to get closer to Louisa. |
