Deep Trouble

2000s British radio comedy series

Deep Trouble radio comedy series review

British stealth nuclear submarine HMS Goliath takes part in missions around the world that require a touch of subtle approach. Unfortunately Goliath commander is far from being subtle.

Crew of British stealth nuclear submarine HMS Goliath learns that their new commanding officer, Captain Paul Wade, is not exactly the legend he expected to meet. Due to mix up they end up not with the Captain Paul Wade, but rather a Captain Paul Wade, rather inept officer, who struggles to be in charge of submarine. The right Paul Wade, a very distinguished sub captain, knows about the mix up, but does not care - he prefers to stay on land, where he can enjoy working from nine to five. Lieutenant Trainor and Commander Alison Fairbanks are left on their own to deal with their new superior.

Radio comedy series set aboard Royal Navy submarine where inept commander is put in charge of HMS Goliath and his second-in-command has to deal with all the problems they face. What sounds like decent setup for sitcom in fact was very poorly executed. The plots were very weak, they had very little to do with the fact that story was set aboard a submarine, characters were very superficial and forgettable. Overall a really low quality production that offers marginal quantity of entertainment.
