Former British police officer shares stories from his previous job in a form of interactive show with the audience.
Alfie Moore was police officer in Scunthorpe, in northern part of England, for 20 years, before he chose to become a stand up comedian. It’s a Fair Cop is his original interactive show, in which he invites his audience to become police officers for half of an hour and try to deal with the dilemmas normal cops have to deal with each day. In each episode he presents a situation he was as an active police officer (at least that is the assumption), presents audience with the premise and asks them what they would do in such scenario.
But he does not stop there, he explains what are the risks behind each decision, what are the legal problems linked to them, or just what in practice a policeman would do. Before each episode the audience is asked to fill the simple questionnaire that is somehow linked to the theme of the episode and some of them are used in the show, which often adds to the show another dimension.
It’s a Fair Cop is unusual mixture of stand up comedy, interactive show and mockumentary, which is surprisingly entertaining. Not only Alfie Moore chooses very common (petty theft, vehicle stop, disputes between neighbours), but interesting cases, he always manages to find a funny angle to present them. He pokes fun at illogical or impractical laws, sometimes stupid criminals, but also politicians and general human nature. Unusual show, but worth your time.
