The Sofa of Time radio comedy series review

Two major life losers just lost another job, but this time life gave them chance of real adventure in a parallel universe, where one of them happens to be the Chosen One that will save the world.

Milford and Parker, two soft furnishings factory workers from London, has just lost their job, but while clearing out his locker Milford found a portal to a parallel world called Gravia. The place is quite similar to our world, but there is one huge difference - it us ruled by ruthless emperor Raamen Bod through his army of brutal guards. But tiny man they met, Marmite, noticed something important in Milford - it was foretold that man with 11 fingers will arrive to Gravia and will overpower the tyrant. It so happens that Milford has a surplus finger, which makes him the Chosen One. But Marmite wasn’t the only one that noticed that finger and now the network of Rammen Bod’s spies are watching every step of Milford and Parker. To fulfill the prophecy Milford has to find the only object that separates Raamen Bod from absolute power - the Sofa of Time. Now Marmite has to guide them on their way to the legendary sofa while trying to avoid all the traps set by the emperor.

Radio sci-fi comedy written and performed by Nick Frost and Matt King, set in a dystopian reality of parallel universe called Gravia, in which Milford is the Chosen One, who will overpower the emperor. While written by comedians and with cast full of comedians the Sofa of Time was actually a comedy-drama show that contained the elements of comedy, but also some sci-fi parody elements as well as some drama bits. As sci-fi program it actually worked well, but as comedy series it wasn’t a great success. There were some interesting characters (like General Geezer or talking crossbow Kelly), but the comedy elements were mixed between more serious parts and not always were that good. Overall an interesting show, but could have been better.
