2000s movie comedy series

Series of horror parody movies - the creators spoofed all the most popular horror movies and thrillers of their times.

The series was started with huge financial success of the first Scary Movie, that was quite original at that time. It was full of toilet humor and really, really poor jokes, but it carried certain style in it. Of course it appealed only to part of the audience, but still was bearable. Unfortunately the creators came up with Scary Movie 2, which lacked the originality and was carying the same level of jokes. From that point the series became the parody of itself - the original creators left the project, the people who took it over obviously tried to recreate the style of the original movie, but failed completely. Scary Movie 5 was made even without a single actor from original cast and was lacking pretty much everything.

Scary Movie gave the completely new meaning to "low brow humor" setting the bar so low that many people tried to make similiar movies that were parodies of different genres of the films and thus killing completely the good parodies that were made earlier (like Mel Brooks movies or Police Squad). The toilet humour, the constant reference to sex and drugs, poor acting and mindless scripts were fun once, later it was just painful to watch. But still, just like with Adam Sandler movies, everyone says that it is crap, but still they pay to watch it - each and every of Scary Movies made a lot of money. I guess the quote from Woody Allen describes it best - "the food at this place is really terrible, and such small portions". You really need a good stomach to get through all Scary Movies.
