National Lampoon’s Vacation

1980s movie comedy series

Clark Griswold and his family just can’t catch a break when it comes to vacation. First their trip to amusement park, later the European vacation and La Vegas trip - they all somehow fail.

When it comes to misadventures during the family trips the idea isn’t new to the comedy, but if you take good script and good cast this could work. And creators of National Lampoon’s Vacation series they’ve got good scipts (at least 2 of them) and good cast (at least the few people that actually did play in more than one movie).

Overall the not very fresh idea turned into enjoyable series. Especially original Vacation and Christmas Vacation were quite succesful, but on the other hand the other 2 movies borrowed heavily from them which makes the series not as good as it could have been. Unfortunately there were additional movies from same "brand" but with different cast or as spin-offs, but they were worthless.
