Ryszard Ochodzki is a president of a sport club, but he uses his influences and his powerful mind for one purpose only - for his personal gain. When he has a chance to gain some money he puts all his skills into work.
Mis was made by genius of Polish comedy Stanislaw Bareja with help from Stanislaw Tym. What those two have created is an icon of Polish comedy - movie that was perfect from start to the end. Tym played main character, the man described by one of the characters as "he never spoke a word of truth in his life". And actually it is truth. Throughout the whole movie Ochodzki lies to absolutely everybody just to reach his target. Also the movie was so well writen than it still is the best Polish comedy in history and the perfect image of how insane the reality of communism in Poland actually was.
Ten years later, few years after Bareja’s death Stanislaw Tym decided to make a sequel of Mis, this time he placed Ochodzki in reality of Poland torn by declaration of martial law by the government. The movie was mocking the old order and new heroes of Solidarity. The movie wasn’t in any way as good as Mis: the plot wasn’t that interesting, the characters weren’t that colourful, the jokes were just average.
In 2007 Stanislaw Tym have finished second sequel called Rys (Richie), this time placing Ryszard Ochodzki in a modern time Poland. His aim was to show the face of Polish politics on the beginning of 21st century, but unfortunately this project failed completely. The plot was chaotic, the dialogues were incoherent, it was hard to point any keynote in all the scenes and above all it was hard to spot anything even remotely funny.
If we forget about the horrible Rys the series is a very good offer for anyone who wants to understand how the communism worked in Poland. Noone showed better all the flaws of this system than Stanislaw Bareja. Despite the censorship he managed to make great comedies that were uncovering all the idiotic details of Polish communism without actually putting any political elements and Mis is his jewel in the crown.
