Only Fools and Horses Series 3 (1983)

1

Homesick

Lugging the shopping up those 12 flights of stairs is proving too much for Grandad, and the doctor recommends a new council bungalow for the Trotter dynasty. Over to Rodney, the new chairman of the housing committee...

2

Healthy Competition

Rodney, tired of his two GCEs getting him little more than a crummy job as a lookout, decides to go it alone and leave Peckham’s own multinational conglomerate – Trotters Independent Trading. By the end of the week he’s already cornered the market in broken lawnmower engines and with Mickey Pierce as his financial director, the sky’s the limit...

Friday the 14th

Del Boy arrives at Nelson Mandela House and tells Rodney and Grandad that they are going down to Cornwall for a spot of weekend fishing. They will stay in Boycie’s cottage for free and get money for every fish caught. It does turn out, however, that they are catching salmon, which is illegal, and that they will bribe the gatekeeper to get in. Rodney reluctantly agrees to go. When the Trotters arrive, they are stopped by a policeman, who tells them that is an escaped axe-murdered on the loose. He was put in a hospital for the criminally insane and when the storm brought a few power cables down he took his chance and escaped. Despite this, the Trotters carry on. Rodney is convinced that he saw someone or something in the bushes but Del reassures him and goes into the kitchen to make a pot of tea. A flash of lightning reveals a mysterious figure outside, which Del doesn’t see but Rodney does. When Del looks, the figure is gone but then there is a knock at the door. Fortunately for the Trotters, it turns out to be the Chief of Security from the hospital. Whilst going to the outdoor loo, Del manages to knock the mysterious figure out when he swings the door open. Rodney and Grandad take the mysterious man to the police station, where it’s revealed that the man is actually the gatekeeper. It’s also revealed that the Chief of Security is actually the escaped axe-murdered who stole the real chief’s ID. Rodney rings Del to warn him and Del convinces the axe-murderer to put his weapon down. The pair then have a game of pretend snooker and pay for £10 a frame, meaning that Del’s weekend might not be a total loss after all.

4

Yesterday Never Comes

Del Boy’s into art dealing in a big way. Especially as it involves Miranda, the glamorous "posh tart". Is she really being wooed by his tequila sunsets or are her motives rather more mercenary...?

5

May the Force Be with You

A ripple of panic runs through The Nag’s Head. Del’s old school enemy Slater is back in town hell-bent on revenge and brandishing his police badge whilst on the trail of some stolen microwaves...

6

Wanted

Watch out! The Peckham Pouncer’s about! Alias Rodney Trotter...? Surely not. But try telling that to Rodders, London’s most wanted sex offender. Now what was the name of that drunk woman in the street?

7

Who’s a Pretty Boy?

Del is furious with Irishman Brendan O’Shaughnessy for supplying him with apple white paint that was actually battleship grey. Wanting revenge, Del visits his friend Denzil Tulser and learns that Brendan is painting Denzil’s flat for £200. Del then tells Denzil a lie and says that Brendan has recently painted a house in the King’s Avenue which burnt down straight afterwards. Horrified, Denzil immediately says that Brendan is no longer painting his flat and he needs to find a new painter. Del tells another lie and says that he use to be a painter and agrees to paint Denzil’s flat. Corrine, Denzil’s wife, then arrives home and is not pleased to see Del, who, a few years ago, ruined her wedding when Del supplied the wrong food. Corrine reluctantly allows Del to paint her flat. The following morning, the Trotters arrive and begin the job whilst Denzil and Corrine are both out. Corrine has left a note to tell the Trotters not to eat the fruit and not to go into the kitchen. Del ignores the note and tells Rodney to put the kettle on. After Del makes a telephone call an hour later, Rodney suddenly remembers that he left the kettle on. The Trotters enter the kitchen and find that the kitchen is full of steam and that Corrine’s pet canary has been killed. Del gives Grandad some money to go and get a new canary. Grandad buys a canary for £45 but has to hide it when he bumps into Corrine. The Trotters fear that Corrine might notice that the canary isn’t hers but don’t have time to worry about it as Corrine arrives home. Corrine does indeed notice that the canary is different because when she woke up that morning, her canary was dead. At the Nags Head, the Trotters meet the new landlord, Mike Fisher, who pays Del to get Brendan to paint the pub.
