Family life of Tim Taylor, the star of TV home improvement show Tool Time - his three sons really put patience of his wife Jill to the test. But Tim always can count on advice from his mysterious neighbor Wilson.

At Sea

Jill finds Brad making out with his girlfriend in his room. When Jill asks Tim to have a man-to-man talk with Brad, Tim is a little reluctant to do it. Not because he doesn’t feel Brad needs it, but because it’s something he’s never done before with a kid. Tool Time goes to sea in another on-location shoot, with Tim, Al and Heidi boarding the USS Constellation aircraft carrier as part of their salute to engines.

Future Shock

Tim and Jill dream about their future lives with Tim’s overpowering and controlling routine. In Jill’s dream, Tim and his routine completely take over Jill and ruin her life, which makes her upset. In Tim’s dream, he realizes his strict and obsessive routine leads to some horrible consequences for Tim’s side: Al and Heidi quit, Wilson runs out of advice, and Jill dies under a coffee table.

Workshop ’Til You Drop

When Bud gets divorced, Tim and Jill go to a couple’s therapy workshop to prevent Bud’s fate from coming to them. Jill gets angered when the rest of the group, including the other women, agree with Tim that Jill is too critical and too demanding until she found that he’s right.

Burnin’ Love

Tim tells Randy to go for Lauren, who likes cars, but he finds out she is dating Jason, Brad’s friend. Jill attempts to prove to her psychology colleagues she can cook for an important dinner.

Al’s Video

When Al is the producer of a video, he selects Tim to direct, until Tim gets too bossy. Jill gets a new laptop computer.

Whose Car Is It Anyway?

Jill buys a foreign sports car Austin-Healey with money from an inheritance and forbids Tim to drive it, but when, of course, does Tim listen to Jill?

I Was a Teenage Taylor

It’s a battle of Halloween pranks. First Tim scares Al, then Brad and Randy scare Jill, then a strange man shows up at the door asking to see the basement. Jill, Tim and Wilson tell Brad and Randy that years ago a man named Clifford Warren was accused of killing his brother, but because of his mental problems he was put in an insane hospital.

Jill and Her Sisters

Jill’s wild sisters Linda, Carrie, and Tracie visit to plan their parents’ 50th anniversary party, but they start arguing the minute they arrive, and Jill quickly grows tired of being the mediator. Meanwhile, with three guests in the house, Tim and the boys camp out in the backyard for a few nights, only for their plans to halt by a secret about one of Jill’s sister’s ex-husbands whom Tracie is dating while Linda is still married to Ted.

The Tool Man Delivers

Heidi goes into labor while on the way to the Classic Car Man of the Year awards with Tim and Jill and they have to stop at a gas station. Tim and Jill help deliver the baby there while receiving instructions from Wilson on the phone, who is at the Awards with Al.

The Wood, the Bad and the Hungry

Benny isn’t allowed on the guest list for the Thanksgiving dinner party at the Taylor house, but Tim and Randy spot him at a food shelter, thinking he is having money problems, and invite him as a guest of honor. As it turns out, Benny only eats there because of the free meals.

Workin’ Man Blues

Brad gets a part-time job at a sporting goods store and work soon becomes his top priority, and skips his PSAT’s.

No Place Like Home

Tim’s brothers help move their mother out of the family home, but Tim takes an immediate dislike to the new owners’ plans for the place. But Tim’s mother tells them to take whatever’s important to Tim and his brothers at the end.

The Flirting Game

Jill wonders if flirting with a possible boss will get her employed, after Tim bought a box of cleanser from a flirting salesperson.

The Karate Kid Returns

Karate-student Mark successfully intervenes when a bully attacks Randy, which leads to some dispute between Tim and Jill & Randy and Lauren. Wilson’s cousins visit, who are The Beach Boys, only to reveal resentment between them and Wilson because the group never used any of Wilson’s song ideas.

Totally Tool Time

A tense Tim troubles the Tool Time team when the audience includes two Swedish buyers who are considering the show for the European market. Will Tool Time’s "Salute To Men" have the desired result? Tim also builds the Man’s Gym.

A Funny Valentine

A singer hints that her relationship with Tim’s father was more than casual. Tim forgets where he hid Jill’s Valentine’s Day gift. Brad and Randy struggle to find gifts for their girlfriends.

Wilson’s World

After a critic declares performance artist Wilson out of touch with reality, the Taylors’ neighbor decides to be more like others, more like Tim. Tim and Al compete in a cooking contest.

Something Old, Someone Blue

Al reveals a secret to Tim and the guys before his wedding to Ilene, that he is not sure if marrying her is right. Jill tries to reassure him by talking about how she had to be dragged to her wedding, which offends Tim. Ilene soon reveals she has the same feelings as Al, putting the wedding in jeopardy.

Communication Breakdown

The kids are using the phone way too much so Tim convinces Jill to let Harry’s son Dennis install a second line. Unfortunately when Dennis takes a break, Tim takes over with the help of Brad and Randy, damaging not only the house, but also Dennis and Harry’s relationship.

My Son, the Driver

Jill’s instincts are correct when she predicts something bad will happen on Brad’s first night out with his driver’s license - but it’s more serious than Brad admits.

Insult to Injury

Tim dislocates his shoulder on Tool Time, and leaves the hospital in order to make it to his next Tool Time episode to break Bob Vila’s record for most appearances on a tool show. Tim is unable to take Mark to an Air Show as a result of his injury, and arranges for one of the air show pilots to take him instead.

Family Unties

The Taylors go to a hardware show, and Jill looks forward to spending quality time exploring the city with the boys. But they don’t seem to be interested in spending time with her, and she realizes how fast they’re growing up. Meanwhile, Tim causes several accidents at the hardware show during Tool Time remotes.

The Feminine Mistake

Tool Time gets the go-ahead to create a special 3D effects show, featuring in-your-face antics from Tim, Al and Heidi. When Jill discovers that Brad’s girlfriend caters to his every need, she insists that Tim sets an example for the boys by acting more like an equal partner.

Taps

Jill’s father dies and she has to deal with the guilt after she faked being sick that weekend so he wouldn’t come to visit. Tim has to deal with the various ways the boys deal with the loss, namely Randy’s tendency to make jokes about it.

The Kiss and the Kiss Off

Lisa, the original Tool Time girl who left the show to become a paramedic, returns. Tim, who is as excited as everyone else to see her again, invites Lisa to temporarily resume her part on the show without consulting the current Tool Time girl, Heidi. As a result, Heidi quits. Randy finally gets up the nerve to ask Lauren out on their first official date, and the date fails until Wilson’s advice turns it around for the better.
